Rummage Sale
St. Vincent de Paul's
Annual Rummage Sale
The annual rummage sale is quickly becoming a substantial fundraiser for the school. The sale had previously been held during the MEA break in the fall and generated approximately $3,500 a year.
In 2010, the sale dates were moved to mid-June, sale items were expanded to include furniture and other larger items and a “boutique” area was created, in which appropriate items were priced slightly higher than traditional rummage sale prices. With these small changes, the sale raised $7,000 for the school.
Rummage sale merchandise includes hundreds of household items, all kinds of appliances, furniture, linens, clothing & accessories, toys & games, baby items, books & other media, hobby & office materials, athletic & outdoor equipment, tools, and more! Our boutique area—The Opal Room—contains more “upscale” pieces, antiques, and newer, brand-name items.
Items for the rummage sale are collected for several days prior to the sale and are donated by the school, church and other community members. We recognize that many of these donated items are of significant value and that the donors, in the spirit of charity, are offering St. Vincent’s the opportunity to capitalize on its substantial value. In fact, some valuable donations are sold on Craigslist or Ebay, maximizing the fundraising potential for the school.
