Home & School Assoc.

Introduction

The St. Vincent de Paul Home and School Association is the parent/teacher organization of St. Vincent de Paul School. The H.S.A. has four major purposes:

  • To enhance the spiritual, social and educational activites of the children, parents and teachers of St. Vincent de Paul School.
  • To encourage and promote interaction and communication among parents, teachers and students of St. Vincent de Paul School.
  • To assist the school administration with fundraisers, volunteer help programs, other activities or programs the school advisory committee or administration may seek help on.
  • To assist in publicizing the activities and accomplishments of St. Vincent de Paul School to the community.

Membership

All parents are members of the Home and School Association.  There is an annual $5.00 family membership fee that contributes to the cost of the school calendar and funding the below committees.  The H.S.A. Board meets one Thursday every month from 9:30 -11:00. All parents are invited to attend the meetings that are announced in the weekly newsletter.

We are ALWAYS looking for parents and grandparents to become more involved! If an area listed below interests you, please call one of the H&S Board members, we NEVER have too many volunteers.

Home and School Association Committees

Open House - The Annual Open House is held before school starts each fall. This committee organizes this all day event where representatives from all H&S committees are available.  It is here where all SVDP school families arrive to drop off forms, pick up ordered uniforms, pad locks, sign up for volunteer openings etc.  Primary point of contact:  Chrystal Collins

Community Service - This committee promotes the value of community service and charity which also helps to instill this virtue in our students.  Primary point of contact:  Mary Cheasick

Painless Fundraising -
This committee coordinates the merchant programs, which provides funds or equipment to our school. These programs include:



Book Fair -This group works with our school librarians to assist the coordination of Scholastic Book sales held twice per school year. Primary points of contact:  Mary Hollowell and Jill White 

Volunteers -There are many areas of our school that have a great need for volunteers. This committee is simply a list of names that can be used to fill in when a variety of school needs come up; teacher assistance, school office help, etc.  Members are called by the committee coordinator completely on a need to need basis.  Primary point of contact:  Ann Fauteck 

Parent Education - This committee is working to bring educational programs to our parent community, such as the highly successful T.L.C. (Thinking, Learning and Communicating) program that was held at our school.  Primary points of contact:  Lisa Greenwood and Dana Tutland

Sunshine Committee - This committee does periodic kind things for the teachers and our staff of St. Vincent de Paul School.  They are the ones typically responsible for food contributions for teachers during conferences, notes of inspiration, birthday cards, Christmas bags, end of year gifts and assisting with teacher luncheons. WOW what a group!  Come and play with them!!  Primary points of contact:  Lisa Blake and Pam Hamilton 

School Calendar -This committe organizes and produces the annual school calendar. Primary point of contact:  Maureen Peters

Playground - This committe coordinates the Open House sign-up required playground duty.  They put together a monthly calendar of volunteers and provide a copy to the office administrator, Jan Endris, for publication on the school web site and Wednesday packets.  They also make phone calls as notification needs arise. Primary point of contact:  Brenda Badger

Cafeteria - Daily help is needed in our school cafeteria assisting in all areas of meal service.

Office/Nurse - The office is in constant need of volunteers to do a variety of daily clerical and medical needs.

Lost & Found - This coordinator gathers and arranges the items left throughout the school for pickup by students or parents.  Primary point of contact: Kris Brands

Uniform Exchange - This group organizes the bi-annual exchange of used uniforms at Open House and Kindergarten Round-Up.  Even if you do not have uniforms to donate, you are welcome to the uniforms available and we gladly accept clean uniforms in good condition.  Primary point of contact: Cathy Hadzima

Spirit Apparel - This committee holds two sales per school year, fall and spring, as well as attending several SVDP Athletic events to promote sales.  This group designs and develops new apparel and spirit items.   They coordinate sales, input purchases into a database, organize and distribute items.  Sales generated are a significant source of income for the funding of the Home & School Association.  Primary points of contact: Allison Kusch and Sharon Kehn.  See St. Vincent's spirit apparel web page for more information.

Student Social Events - This Committe is responsible for the Annual Catholic Schools Week Dance, held the Saturday of the completion of Catholic Schools Week.  This group may also plan other Social Events for the students during the school year.  Primary points of contact: Sue White or Pam Baker
