Social Justice Ministry

The focus of Social Justice Ministry in our parish is to lead our parishioners to the inspirational knowledge of Catholic Social Teaching. It is meant to encourage a proactive response to that knowledge, and to be relentless in lending our hands and voices to the under priviledged through the various programs under this ministry in our parish. Our parish has a four-fold approach to our social justice programs namely; Education,
Life Issues, Advocacy, and Charitable Outreach.

"Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen:
to lose the chains of injustice and... to set the oppressed free and break every yoke...
to feed the hungry... to provide the poor wanderer with shelter and
not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?"

Isaiah 58:6-7

The purpose of this year-long campaign is to awaken our consciousness to Catholic social teaching through education, love and service. Our goal is that through this campaign we shall be encouraged, committed and empowered to lend our hands and voices to the social teachings or the Church. The patron of our parish, St. Vincent de Paul, was a champion of social justice. He defended and advocated for the sacredness of human dignity for all persons in our society. This campaign is a clarion call for us to be true to our name.

Parish Outreach Campaign Prayer

Loving God,

We come to you as a community under the patronage of St. Vincent de Paul.

Help us understand that social justice is not part of the the gospel; it is the whole gospel according to the Sacred Scriptures.

Grant that through this outreach campaign we will develop a deepening knowledge of Catholic social teaching, a growing commitment to love, and a generous devotion to service.

May the Holy Spirit set our hearts ablaze to uphold the sacredness of the dignity we share with the underpriviledged.

Amen.
