Youth Ministry is an addition to the Faith Formation Program that is meant to give the youth the chance to have a practical experience with what they have learned. It is also a great way to meet other people of our faith and have a lot of fun in the process. Youth Ministry is completely voluntary and has an “Open Door” policy where people can come as much or as little as they are able.. Jr.J-Zone is the Junior High Youth Group and J-Zone is the High School Youth Group. So don’t be confused if you see these names being used.
WHAT DOES IT CONSIST OF:
First, there are regular Junior (7th & 8th grade) and Senior High (9th - 12th grade) Youth gatherings. Named jr. J-Zone and J-Zone. These groups meet every Wednesday to build community with themselves and grow closer to God. Separate nights for the two sections allow us to tailor our subject matter and such to the appropriate maturity level. We will have guest speakers, comedy acts, concerts and parties. Using every avenue we can think of to look and learn about our beliefs in new and exciting ways.
Secondly, there are various outings throughout the year. This would include trips to ski resorts, Valleyfair, NET Ministries Lifeline, retreat centers, etc.
Thirdly, there are several retreat opportunities as the year goes by. We are having a Womens Retreat in November and another in the Spring. We will also be having a Mens Retreat in March. These are great opportunities to have time to make friends with others and God while having fun and not dealing with everyday distractions.
Lastly, there will be some great missions trips that will be offered. This past July (2007) We went to Honduras to work at an orphanage.
We will be constantly changing things and adding new things to our program. I invite you to keep close contact with us to make sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity of a lifetime.
